Small steps, lasting change.

We often think change needs to be big and bold to make a difference. But one of my clients helps prove the opposite - small, intentional steps often spark the most powerful transformations.

Meet Alex.

Alex leads a personality-diverse hybrid team - a mix of outgoing extroverts who thrive in meetings and quieter introverts who prefer time to process before sharing ideas. For months, team conversations felt imbalanced, with the louder voices unintentionally overshadowing the quieter ones. This imbalance was affecting collaboration and trust.

Instead of overhauling the entire team dynamic, Alex started small. He introduced a simple ritual:

  • For every meeting, the agenda was sent 48 hours in advance
  • Each team member was invited to share written thoughts before the Zoom meeting
  • During the meeting, everyone had a few minutes of uninterrupted time to share their ideas, concerns, or wins

Within a few weeks, engagement soared. The introverts felt heard. The extroverts appreciated the clarity. And, most importantly, the team began collaborating on equal footing. This single step - creating space for all voices - rippled into stronger trust and better results.

3 Small Steps You Can Try This Week:

  1. Audit one touchpoint: Pick a moment in your team’s workflow (a weekly meeting, a check-in, or even email communication) and ask: How can I make this 10% better?
  2. Create a pause: Build intentional silence into conversations. Give people 10 to 20 seconds before asking for responses.
  3. Ask one powerful question: “What would help you feel more heard”? - and listen without rushing to fix.

You don’t need a giant transformation plan to create change. Choose one small, meaningful action this week - something that prioritizes clarity, inclusion, or connection - and let that step work its quiet magic.

What’s one small shift you’re ready to try this week? Hit reply and share - I’d love to celebrate with you!

Wishing you an enjoyable and restful weekend.

With care, Kris 🌸
