When You're Leading Through a Fog
Â
Hey there,
My brain has been in a fog lately.Â
For the last 1+ week, my Mom has been in the hospital, and my Dad’s health is also in decline. Between life’s demands, heavy emotions, and shifting priorities, I’m finding clarity harder to come by.
And I know I’m not the only one who goes through “foggy seasons”. Where the fog is emotional, mental, situational, or simply the result of too much.Â
If you or your team ever feel like clarity is harder to come by, I want to gently offer this:
You don’t have to have full clarity to take a meaningful step.
When my brain feels overwhelmed or my heart feels heavy, I don’t force myself into action. I simply come back to 3 quiet questions that help me reset - as a human and a leader:
🪷 What deserves my attention right now?
Not everything that calls for it. Just what truly matters.
🪷 Where can I soften, not push?
Productivity can wait. People - including you - matter more.
🪷 What's one small thing that would bring me a little ease today?
A long walk with my dog, a deeper breath, curling up with a good book.
These don't give me all the answers. But they remind me that I can still lead - even in the fog. Especially in the fog.
If this resonates, feel free to share it with someone who might need it too. And if your team is navigating a tender or turbulent time, I'd love to support you in creating space for grounded communication and whole-person leadership.
Holding you (and me) in compassion this coming week.
Wishing you a peaceful and enjoyable weekend.
With care, Kris 🌸
